Who Is a Good Candidate for a Neck Lift?
The best candidates for a neck lift are looking for a long-lasting solution to sagging skin, drooping muscles, and stubborn excess fat deposits on their neck.
Good candidates for deep neck lifts have submandibular glands that hang low and are enlarged. In some cases, the salivary glands can get larger over the years, and in other cases, they may still be small but begin to hang lower.

The Neck Lift Consultation
Before a date can be set for your neck lift procedure, you’ll need to arrange a consultation with Dr. Pennington. Once you reach out, our patient coordinator will go over the process, answer questions, and help with any accommodations and travel plans. A date will then be chosen for your consultation with Dr. Pennington.
The consultation can be either virtual or in person, depending on your needs. The doctor will talk with you about your aesthetic goals, and she will perform a physical examination. She will ask you questions about your medical history and then design a surgical plan for your neck lift.
What Happens During a Neck Lift?
First, anesthesia is administered to ensure patient comfort and prevent pain. Next, Dr. Pennington creates small incisions under the chin and behind the ears. These incisions are very well camouflaged.
This is followed by neck and submental (chin) liposuction, if necessary, in addition to platysmaplasty (neck muscle tightening to address the anterior bands). Dr. Pennington also addresses deeper structures when necessary. To finish the surgery, she closes the incisions with sutures.

You’ll need to follow Dr. Pennington’s recovery directions carefully during your healing process. This will help avoid complications and make your recovery period as short and comfortable as possible.
Dr. Pennington and her husband have developed a tested and trustworthy healing protocol for plastic surgery procedures like neck lifts. This involves hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatments, IV infusions, peptide and amino acid supplements, and specific scar care steps.
Once you return home after your neck lift, you’ll need to rest. Bruising and swelling are normal; keeping your head elevated at all times for the first two weeks will help address post-surgical swelling.
You’ll need to stay home from work until cleared to go back to your job. Avoid strenuous activities like heavy lifting, heavy exercise, and sports.
